This turmeric tea with ginger and lemon is a perfect drink for warming your bones when the weather changes from warm to cold. Ginger and Turmeric are a wonderful pair and together they are an aromatic delight.
Ginger root is warming and soothing and makes this tea perfect when you have a bit of a cold. Combined with lemon (also high in vitamin C, a well-known antioxidant) and Eastern Shore Honey, it’s warm, soothing and just sweet enough. If you like, add coconut milk for a brew that’s similar to spiced chai.
Turmeric is a spice that most of us simply don’t get enough of. Not only does it give our favorite curries a bright color and an earthy flavor, but it offers some anti-inflammatory benefits inside and outside as well.
Ginger and Turmeric offer Benefits for the Skin
Gingerols, the oily resin of the ginger root, features potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. When topically applied, ginger can inhibit free radicals that cause skin damage and aging. It is also used to reduce the appearance of hypopigmented skin (which is light or white from loss of skin coloring, mostly caused by injury), even skin tone, and improve elasticity.
Curcumin, a chemical compound found in the turmeric plant, may help to reduce swelling and irritations in the body. It also offers quite a few wonderful benefits when used on the skin. Research is ongoing about the uses and benefits of turmeric, so in the meantime, we’ll just enjoy this ginger and turmeric tea when we’re cold in the winter!
Adapting your Turmeric Tea Recipe

Lemon, Ginger and Turmeric Tea with Honey
- Turmeric root
- Ginger root
- 1 tsp Waxing Kara Honey
- Lemon sliced
Cut off a 1/2 inch piece of each root.
Use a vegetable peeler to remove the skin from the root, and then thinly slice into a tall mug.
Pour boiling hot water on top of sliced roots.
Allow to steep for 12 minutes, no need to strain.
Add a teaspoon of Eastern Shore Honey and serve with a lemon wedge.
