Sweet Spicy Salmon

I saw a version of this Sweet Spicy Salmon with Honey recipe on Facebook and had to try it out. This salmon is full of flavor, easy to make, and is now officially one of my favorite salmon preparations ever. Big thanks to Creme de la Crumb, you were an incredible inspiration.

Adapting Sweet Spicy Salmon:

You know, a recipe is not truly perfect until you’ve added your own touch to it. That’s why we encourage you to play with your food. Let your inner chef come out and play and change up this recipe. You really can’t mess this up. Have fun! Here’s some ideas:

  • Pick your favorite protein: swap out salmon with chicken breast, or try a different kind of fish
  • Lay a bed of sturdy seasonal fresh produce, bell pepper, carrots, radish to the dish, under the salmon before roasting
  • Steam a head of cabbage and serve the salmon on steamed cabbage leaves, accompany with a side dish of wild rice

Sweet and Spicy Salmon

Ingredients

  • 1 large salmon fillet skin on
  • 1 tbsp. fresh cilantro chopped
  • 1 tsp. garlic minced
  • 2 tbsp. organic low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 fresh-squeezed lemon
  • 1/3 c sriracha sauce
  • 1/3 c Waxing Kara Honey
  • 2 tbsp. extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tbsp. butter
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees
  • Season salmon with salt and pepper to taste
  • Place salmon on foil lined baking dish and create edge with foil
  • In a sauce pan melt butter add honey, sriracha sauce (use paleochef), lemon juice, low sodium organic soy sauce, and garlic. Bring to a boil lower heat and continue to simmer 3-4 minutes longer.
  • Pour 2/3 of the sauce over the salmon (reserve remaining sauce for topping)
  • Bake for 15 minutes, then switch to broil and cook another 4-5 minutes until the very edges of the salmon begin to char slightly
  • Top salmon with reserved sauce and chopped cilantro and serve.
