We love strawberry season: it means fresh fruit, tasty snacks, and lots of smoothies! When we have bountiful berries, we like to use them up in this Strawberry Smoothie with honey. Strawberries are packed with vitamin C, and fresh ones in the early summer are better than what you buy in the store.

There’s really nothing like fresh strawberries. Juicy and sweet, they taste just like summertime (in my opinion). Always buy organic berries, because it’s nearly impossible to wash off the pesticides used on the plants otherwise. Or, if you can, grow your own in a pot at home!

Our Spring Honey really brings out the flavor of the fresh-picked strawberries. Enjoy this smoothie for breakfast, or as a snack mid afternoon. I like to add protein powder to my smoothies for a post-workout bite.

All month, we’ve been sharing our knowledge about growing strawberries and making tasty snacks, like strawberry scones. Since strawberry season is only around for a few short months in the summer, we like to enjoy as many recipes as we can!

Adapting our Honey Strawberry Smoothie

You know, a recipe is not truly perfect until you’ve added your own touch to it. That’s why we encourage you to play with your food. Let your inner smoothie chef come out and play and change up this strawberry smoothie recipe. Here’s some ideas:

  • Use a mix of berries adding blackberries, blueberries and raspberries for a super fruit smoothie
  • Add a handful of spinach or kale for extra nutrients
  • Try 1 tablespoon ground flax seeds or chia seeds
  • Garnish with cocoa nibs, hemp hulls, granola or raw coconut

  • 1 c strawberries raw or frozen
  • 1 banana frozen ripe
  • 1/2 c fat-free greek yogurt
  • 2 tbsp. powdered peanut butter or fresh ground
  • 1/4 c coconut water
  • 1 tbsp. Waxing Kara Honey


  • Combine all ingredients together in a blender and puree until smooth. Enjoy!
