This Rose Honey Infusion is an important ingredient in our Sweetheart Martini, but you can use this delightful infusion in other recipes. Roses provide a soothing, sweet aroma to the honey-plus, they’re beautiful! Roses are actually edible, which might come as a surprise to you. Make sure that you either buy organic roses or grow your own. Pesticides cover greenhouse flowers, which also lack the flavors and aromas of traditionally grown plants.

Honey infusions are the perfect holiday gift, because it can be customizable based on what the person you are gifting it to likes.

Honey can be infused with any number of ingredients such as: ginger, hot peppers, dried herbs, and even dried citrus. This will make your jar of honey a special ingredient for teas and marinades. Try hot pepper honey over top of cream cheese, or orange rind honey in your tea.

Infusing honey may sound like a long and complicated process, but in all actuality it’s quite easy. It’s a thoughtful and elegant gift, to a tea drinker you know or someone who likes experiment in the kitchen.

  • Use dried basil or other aromatic herbs
  • Add dried lavender to the mixture
  • Try this infusion over your favorite ice cream for a pleasant surprise

Infusions are fun to make and they make beautiful and thoughtful gifts, especially in a fancy glass container.

When you embark on making any infusion, in oil, in honey, vinegar or any other syrup, please be mindful of food safety. If there is any water, any bacteria, infusion recipes can soon become a recipe for disaster. Always handle food with love and care.
