Today we celebrate National Dessert Day, and with it, a plethora of honey dessert recipes. Since National Dessert Day is in October we picked our favorite fall-inspired treats so as to not overwhelm anyone. Using honey to sweeten your food is healthier than using processed cane sugar since it has a lower glycemic index and more nutrients. Honey also doesn’t overpower the other ingredients in your recipes, making it the perfect addition to your kitchen, even baking with honey is preferable to using sugar.
Celebrating National Dessert Day with Eastern Shore Honey
We make these honey poached pears with 10 ingredients. A little honey, vanilla, lemon juice, and brandy bring big flavor from farm to table. These pears are so beautiful, it’s hard to believe they take less than 30 minutes to make.
Most compotes are made with dried fruits. We revisited the traditional compote and added fresh figs. This fig compote is a divine seasonal treat that we know you’ll love.

While we’re on the subject of cookies, these Oatmeal Cookies with dried fruit are a hit every time I make them for the family and there’s an added bonus, they are dairy-free.
Apples are aplenty, this time of the year so we decided to bring you an old-fashioned apple pie recipe that will knock your socks off. And who doesn’t love a good pie?
These healthy carrot cake bars are loved by kids of every age. I remember first being introduced to the concept of carrot cake as a kid, the whole idea of vegetables in the cake just didn’t go together. Then I tried it. How could I not love the carrot cake of the 1980s, loaded with gluten, hydrogenated oil and sugar, lots and lots of sugar?
Chocolate Sticky Apples are a favorite of ours, and they’re so quick and easy to make too. Perfect for the trick or treaters that come around your block this year!
This Pecan Pie is really delicious, and really not that difficult to make! Made with only a handful of ingredients plus our Eastern Shore honey.
And don’t forget a wonderfully seasonal after-dinner drink. This dairy-free eggnog is delicious!
