Healthy Desserts for the New Year

National Cookie Day set in kitchen with wheat eggs, Waxing Kara raw honey, milk and a burlap sack in the kitchen counter

Even when you make your resolutions for the New Year, you’re sure to want something sweet. These healthy desserts made with honey will do the trick! We cut back out the unhealthy elements of many desserts (artificial flavorings, empty calories, preservatives, and colorants) to give you treats that you won’t feel quite as guilty about snacking on. These light, low calorie desserts definitely don’t skimp out on flavor, though! Packed with yummy things like cocoa, fruits and veggies, nuts, coconut and Eastern Shore Honey, you’ll enjoy these healthy dessert recipes all year long.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Try reducing dairy in your desserts (you won’t believe how this improves your complexion!)
  • Taking out all fats is not a good idea-your body needs them! Instead, cut out animal based fats, trans and saturated fats.
  • Add lots of fruits to your dessert menu (caramelized pears, anyone?)
  • When shopping, avoid sweets high in sugar, fillers, preservatives, and artificial flavors.

Healthy Desserts for a Happy Waistline

For breakfast, try a piece of this Healthy Coffee Cake. We developed this recipe over the summer, and after a few trial-and-error attempts, we came up with something very beautiful and delicious. Our recipe calls for a candied nut topping, feel free to leave it out or replace it with a little melted dark chocolate drizzled over top.

If you’re a chocoholic, you’ll die for these Beetroot Brownies. As strange as they may sound, the ingredients come together surprisingly well-you’ll never know there are beets in here!

These easy, quick, and sweet Honey Grilled Peaches are light and so good for you-all you need is fruit, honey, and a little oil to get cooking! You can use your griddle indoors if it’s too chilly outside to fire up the BBQ. This is one healthy dessert recipe you won’t want to miss out on.

Surprise chocolate pudding anyone? Nobody has to know the secret ingredient, well, at least until AFTER it’s all gone.

It'd be a shame if you had boycotters of this vegan chocolate pudding just because the main ingredient is green. Save the surprise for after it's gone.
