Gluten-Free Dessert Recipes for your Healthy Diet

Our preferred sweetener is one that comes from nature, honey. Honey has a lower glycemic index than refined sugar, meaning that your body processes it more slowly. Since all of these treats are homemade, they don't have any preservatives or artificial ingredients. This makes them better for you, so you can enjoy them whenever you need something sweet!

Using whole ingredients, like oats, fruits, and honey means you can swap things out here and there. These recipes aren't set in stone, have fun with your food!

If you have followed this blog, you've probably noticed a lot of recipes by my good friend Joyce C. Wallace. She is a former nurse turned health-coach and most of her recipes are designed for clean eating. Joyce uses very little sugar and thinks very little of gluten. (I try not to get her started.)

Gluten-Free Cherry Cobbler

This Cherry Cobbler could be any cobbler. Try this recipe with fresh peaches, blueberries, plums would even be fun. I keep the topping handy in the fridge and make individual portions after dinner, so it doesn't feel like I've missed out on dessert.

Bliss Balls

Bliss Balls turn frowns upside down at home, at work and at play in the gym. We had the distinct pleasure of working with recipe developer of bliss balls extraordinaire, Weichen from @lucky_peach in NYC. Weichen blends together the most amazing recipes incorporating gluten-free indie-maker products as ingredients.

Gluten-Free Blackberry Pancakes with Honey

The comfort food of the breakfast world. We like our pancakes fluffy, warm, and sweet. We made them better by adding berries and honey, as a start, next, we made our Blackberry Pancakes with gluten-free flour and our Homemade Almond Milk, so they’re better for you than the typical boxed mix.

Paleo Pumpkin Muffins

Joyce shared these amazing Paleo Pumpkin Muffins with us as we entered her home. They are made with gluten-free flours. I will admit that baking gluten-free is not the same as baking with gluten. The results are not quite as pretty. Muffins and cakes don't rise quite as high. You give up quite a bit in terms of the presentation, but what you gain in terms of healthy eating is worth it.

Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble

Joyce is also always working to cut back on sugar, cut out the gluten and add fruits and veggies to every meal. This Strawberry Rhubarb Crumble dessert is actually good for you and easy to make. The leftovers are GREAT on top of Greek yogurt the next morning!

Apple Pie

This fantastic recipe for Gluten-Free Apple Pie was shared with us by our friend Mark Murphy! Mark is an amazing designer, curator– and now a chef, who knew?! Recipes like this, without gluten, are perfect for anyone eating wheat or gluten-free diet especially those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance. Gluten-free foods can also benefit your health in many ways even if you do not have celiac disease, including lowering your cholesterol levels, helping with digestion and weight loss, and maintaining energy.
