These gluten free sweets aren’t loaded with so much processed sugar or artificial ingredients that would make them unhealthy. Everyone will always have a bit of a sweet tooth, and even when you’re doing your best to stay on the healthy eating bandwagon, you might want to cheat here and there. There’s no shame in that! Having your sweets in moderation is the key, and these gluten free treats will satisfy that sweet tooth without making you feel like you cheated on your diet.
Gluten Free Sweets for your Healthy Diet
Our preferred sweetener is one that comes from nature, honey. Honey has a lower glycemic index than refined sugar, meaning that your body processes it more slowly. Since all of these treats are homemade, they don’t have any preservatives or artificial ingredients. This makes them better for you, so you can enjoy them whenever you need something sweet!
Using whole ingredients, like oats, fruits, and honey means you can swap things out here and there. These recipes aren’t set in stone, so have fun with your food!
Bliss Balls turn frowns upside down at home, at work and at play in the gym. We had the distinct pleasure of working with recipe developer of bliss balls extraordinaire, Weichen from @lucky_peach in NYC. Weichen blends together the most amazing recipes incorporating gluten free indie-maker products as ingredients.
If you have followed this blog, you’ve probably noticed a lot of recipes by my good friend Joyce C. Wallace. She is a former nurse turned health-coach and most of her recipes are designed for clean eating. Joyce uses very little sugar and thinks very little of gluten. (I try not to get her started.) Joyce shared these amazing Paleo Pumpkin Muffins with us as we entered her home. They are made with gluten free flours, so they don’t rise much, but they taste like muffins, and they’re good for you. Try them. You’ll love them.
Joyce is always working to cut back on sugar, cut out the gluten and add fruits and veggies to every meal. This Strawberry Rhubarb Crisp dessert is actually good for you and easy to make. The leftovers are GREAT on top of Greek yogurt the next morning!
Our Banana Yogurt Muffins make a perfect breakfast or after work treat. Add in walnuts, chopped fruit, and your favorite baking spices to have the best gluten free muffins ever!
This Paleo Crumb Cake recipe came from Patti A., a customer of our honey house. We are fortunate to get to know our customers and share stories. Patti has Multiple Sclerosis (MS) and has found the Gluten-Free Paleo diet to be very helpful for her health condition.
This fantastic recipe for Gluten-Free Apple Pie was shared with us by our friend Mark Murphy! Mark is an amazing designer, curator– and now chef, who knew?! Recipes like this, without gluten, are perfect for anyone eating a wheat or gluten-free diet especially those with celiac disease or gluten intolerance. Gluten-free foods can also benefit your health in many ways even if you do not have celiac disease, including lowering your cholesterol levels, helping with digestion and weight loss, and maintaining energy.
If you decide to make any of these recipes, be sure to take a photo and share them with us using #waxingkararecipes on Instagram. We love seeing your photos!
