Damaged cuticles can lead to painful nicks and even infections of the nail bed.

Your hands are constantly busy! Without realizing it, you pick up and transfer bacteria through touch thousands of times a day. Damaged cuticles and cracked skin are breeding-grounds for bacteria. Exposure to dirt may cause a mild infection.

For starters, use any combination of our scrubs and butter to cleanse, exfoliate and moisturize hands on a daily basis. In doing this, your hands will be softer and able to take on the elements. If you’re experiencing dry, irritated cuticles try this extensive cuticle treatment for more aggressive treatment.

How to Make Cuticle Treatment

First, you’ll need to gather the ingredients you need to treat damaged cuticles. The good news is most of these ingredients are already in your fridge and pantry.

  • Raw Eastern Shore Honey
  • Coconut Oil at room temperature works best, or use an equal amount of olive or almond oil
  • Avocado
  • Aloe Vera Gel
  • Lavender or your favorite gentle essential oil

Mix all of the ingredients together in a glass bowl until smooth and apply. It’ll look like you’ve applied guacamole to your hands. You may use this treatment on the whole hand, the face, knees or any area that you are experiencing dryness.

Our honey avacado mask (aka “Guacamask”) looks like a snack and works like a charm. This deeply nourishing and soothing facial treatment works on all skin types.

Place the solid oil into a metal measuring cup and place it in a warm oven or in a pot of warm water and allow it to soften. The honey and lavender oil provide the skin an antibacterial agent.

Coconut oil, avocado, aloe vera gel, and honey provide moisture that repairs damaged skin while delivering essential vitamins and nutrients. Whisk all ingredients together in a small bowl until well blended.

Apply generously to the cuticles, nails, and hands, allowing to sit on the skin for five to ten minutes. When your skin feels moisturized, rinse the mixture off with warm water and a damp washcloth before patting dry with a towel. Finish off your hand treatment with a coating of your favorite Body Butter to lock in the moisture, and you’re good to go!

Using Waxing Kara Honey Body Scrubs on your hands

You can skip the essential oil if you don’t happen to have any on hand: it won’t make this treatment less effective. Or, you can swap out the lavender oil for another soothing oil, like geranium bourbon or sweet orange. Never apply undiluted essential oils to the skin, and only add a few drops to any DIY treatment.
