We’ve all been there—struggling to come up with something new for breakfast day after day. That same breakfast sandwich, smoothie bowl, or granola can become boring very quickly. But don’t give into the monotony just yet! To keep up with the times, I pack my breakfast every day and take a break at about 11 am and eat at that time.

In one of the more comprehensive studies to date, it's recently been proven that eggs (yolks) are not the best choice for breakfast. In this recent study, it is believed that egg yolks raise cholesterol and increase chances for heart disease. So we'll limit eggs to one per serving, if-at-all for now. Until the next study.

What to drink for breakfast

Let's start with an iced latte for a change of scenery. This recipe is so simple but just beautiful. I find that in the summer months this is all I need to get my day started.

This homemade almond milk is delicious. It's better than any store-bought almond milk we've had. Your kids are going to love "milking" the almonds too.

Breakfast Smoothies

There are 3 big reasons why you should add honey to your breakfast smoothie. Check out these simple but satisfying recipes.

A perfect start to an otherwise dull day. Try a smoothie with all your favorite greens. We call this one the Bee Green Smoothie! They are mainly water, adding a little fruit will round-out the flavor.

What to eat for breakfast

If you want to skip the entire concept of breakfast, I am with you 100% but these Breakfast Cookies are such a treat, and it feels like a cheat, but it really isn't. I change this recipe periodically to add more protein, leading to more satisfaction.

Granola recipes have been around forever, but serving up raw granola in bar form is something that can make it even more appealing. It's a little out of the ordinary and takes a little bit of getting used to but healthful pudding is a great way to start the day and they are so easy to throw together that we would be remiss without mentioning them. I just love this chocolate chia pudding with raspberry. So will you.

Overnight Oats

Today we share oatmeal recipes, from overnight oats that can be served cold or hot, to traditional warm oatmeal dishes that your grandmother made. We're also exploring more contemporary porridge and savory grain recipes that have been designed as a perfect post-workout food. We also share some fantastic smoothies in case you're searching for a smaller but satisfying meal. As always, with each of these recipes, we encourage you to play with your food.

With Simple Overnight Oats, we mix all of the ingredients for a hearty breakfast the night before to save time in the morning just grab and go, right from your fridge. Perfect for warmer weather. Prefer warm oats? Just heat them up when you are ready!

Warm Oats

To be honest, I wasn’t always a fan of oatmeal. This changed by the time I was an adult, and now I can’t get enough of the stuff! I wouldn’t exactly call this recipe “oatmeal,” since it’s a blend of several grains. That’s why we call this Power Porridge. It’s packed with so many heart-healthy ingredients, and it keeps you full all morning until lunch.

Muffins and Pastry

With a strawberry scone recipe, you can expect fresh strawberries baked into a flaky scone and drizzled with a simple honey sauce.

I’ve been told by my elders and breakfasters alike that breakfast is still the most important meal of the day. So, until science tells me otherwise, I’ll be cooking up a storm first thing in the morning as always. Who knows, maybe there’s some truth to this old wives tale after all.
